About the Moderators:

Vanessa Garritano vanessagarritano@icloud.com

Vanessa was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of six. While the journey hasn’t always been easy, it shaped her into a resilient and compassionate person. After completing post-secondary education, she found her passion in the social service field and continues to build a fulfilling life through nature, movement, creativity, and meaningful connection. She believes everyone deserves to be seen for their strengths—not defined by their challenges. Vanessa is especially passionate about supporting adults with learning disabilities—people often navigating invisible or misunderstood struggles. She’s experienced firsthand how learning differently affects more than just school—it impacts work, mental health, and everyday life. Over time, she’s chosen a slower, more intentional path, including stepping away from a master’s program to redefine success on her own terms.

Through self-advocacy, peer support, and accessing the right resources, Vanessa found strength. Now, she’s committed to creating spaces where others feel safe to share, reflect, and celebrate both challenges and achievements. She believes real growth begins with empathy and understanding. She’s excited to bring warmth and good energy to this group, helping create a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered—just as they are.
